  • Focus Word Chart (Word Generation)
  • Reflection Journal Entry #3: First Draft of Persuasive Essay
    • Paragraph 1 (Introduction): What is your perspective on school uniforms?
    • Paragraph 2 (Body): List and explain three reasons to justify your perspective.
    • Paragraph 3 (Conclusion): Summarize your main points and explain how this controversial issue affects to you personally.
        • Use the vocabulary words we are focusing on: debate, controversy, perspective, justify and bias.
        • Use the persuasive language we learn in class to help you write your essay.

Week of August 16-20
Due on Thursday, August 20th:
  • Personal Dictionary: complete entries for TWO new words
  • Reading Log
  • Reflection Journal Entry #2: Who is your best friend?
    • Explain the reasons why you like that person so much.
  • Language Goals, Reading and Writing Surveys
  • Binder for class

Week of August 11-13
Due on Sunday, August 16th:
  • Reflection Journal Entry #1: What was the best thing that happened to you this summer?
    • Introduction: describe the best thing
    • Body: explain why it was the "best"
    • Conclusion: summarize main points and add final thoughts
  • Student-Teacher Contract
    • Be sure to sign it and have your parents sign it!
